Jo Oxley BA (Hons) BACP Accredited Psychotherapist & Counsellor – Online Across the UK
Hello, I’m Jo a warm and relational BACP Accredited Psychotherapist offering online counselling to individuals, couples and young people across the UK.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious or unsure of what you need, you’re not alone. Life affects us all in ways we don’t always expect. It can touch our relationships, our confidence and our emotional wellbeing. When things feel heavy or confusing, therapy gives you a gentle space to breathe and explore what’s happening inside you.
My aim is to offer a calm, safe and steady presence. Together, we can make sense of your emotions at a pace that feels manageable and supportive.
How I Work
My approach is grounded in gentle, relational attachment therapy. This means we explore your emotional experiences with curiosity and care. You don’t need to know anything about attachment theory. Many people simply arrive feeling stuck or overwhelmed. Together, we slowly uncover what sits beneath your feelings and patterns.
Attachment therapy gives us a compassionate framework for understanding your reactions, your triggers and your emotional needs. This approach helps us explore how early experiences may shape the way you connect, cope and relate today. As we work together, you can begin to recognise old patterns with more clarity and kindness.
Who I Support
I work with people who are navigating a wide range of emotional experiences. These include:
-relationship difficulties
-anxiety
-low mood
-emotional overwhelm
-stress and burnout
-trauma
-postnatal depression
-baby loss and reproductive grief
-low self-esteem
-challenges in communication or connection
-difficulties with trust or closeness
-young people struggling with emotional or relational issues
Many of these challenges can be linked to early attachment patterns. However, you don’t need to know this language for therapy to be helpful. We gently explore what feels most present and important for you.
Attachment Therapy: Understanding Yourself with Care
Attachment therapy offers a soft and steady way to understand why you feel, think and behave the way you do. Many people discover that their emotional patterns make more sense once we explore them through an attachment lens.
You may recognise some of the following experiences:
-finding it hard to ask for help
-worrying about being “too much” or “not enough”
-feeling anxious about closeness or distance
-shutting down during conflict
-feeling responsible for other people’s emotions
-repeating familiar relationship patterns
These experiences are common. Together, we explore them with warmth rather than judgement. Attachment therapy can help you:
-understand your emotional triggers
-build healthier patterns in relationships
-feel safer and more grounded inside yourself
-develop secure ways of relating
-soften old patterns that no longer serve you
This approach is gentle, steady and deeply compassionate.
Couples Counselling & Relationship Therapy
Relationships can bring comfort, but they can also bring challenges. When communication breaks down or emotions run high, it can feel difficult to reconnect. Couples counselling offers a calm and supportive space to explore what’s happening between you.
I use a relational, attachment-informed approach, often drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). This helps couples:
-understand each other’s emotional needs
-reduce conflict and tension
-rebuild trust and closeness
-soften reactive patterns
-feel more connected and secure
Many couples discover that their emotional cycles have roots in attachment needs they didn’t realise they had. Exploring this gently can bring real understanding and healing.
Postnatal Depression & Baby Loss
The journey into parenthood can feel joyful, confusing and overwhelming all at once. When you’re struggling emotionally after birth or facing the pain of baby loss, it can feel isolating. You deserve support that is gentle, steady and grounded in compassion.
I offer specialist support for:
-postnatal depression
-miscarriage
-stillbirth
-baby loss
-reproductive grief
-identity changes in early parenthood
We go at your pace and create space for whatever you need to express or explore.
Anxiety, Low Mood & Emotional Overwhelm
When anxiety becomes loud or your mood feels heavy, it can be difficult to know what to do next. Therapy offers a calmer, safer space to explore these feelings. Together, we look at what contributes to your anxiety or low mood and how to ease some of the pressure you’re carrying.
Attachment therapy helps us understand why certain emotions feel difficult to manage. It offers tools and language that support emotional regulation, self-awareness and self-compassion.
Trauma-Informed Support
You never have to retell or relive traumatic events for healing to take place. My trauma-informed approach focuses on emotional safety and gentle pacing. We work together to help your nervous system feel steadier and more regulated.
Because trauma and attachment are often linked, an attachment-informed approach can support you to feel more grounded and connected to yourself.
