A Therapist Retreat
Restoring the Secure Base
Supporting the Foundations of Therapeutic Practice
An attachment-based retreat for Therapists, Counsellors and Psychotherapists
Therapeutic work is demanding, absorbing and deeply relational. It calls for sustained presence, emotional attunement and thoughtful engagement with complexity – often carried quietly and independently.
Restoring the Secure Base is a professionally held, attachment-based retreat designed to bring therapists together to pause, reflect, learn and reconnect – with themselves, with the work, and with one another.
This retreat recognises that professional isolation is a real feature of therapeutic practice, and that opportunities for shared reflection and renewal are essential to sustaining ethical, effective work over time.

Why This Retreat?
Within attachment-informed practice, the concept of a secure base is fundamental, not only for clients, but for clinicians themselves.
We recognise that attending to our own foundations is an ethical responsibility within therapeutic practice. Restoring and renewing the conditions that support our work – regulation, reflection, learning and professional connection – is essential to sustaining presence, judgement and therapeutic effectiveness.
This retreat has been created to offer dedicated time and space for exactly that.
Rather than stepping away from the work, Restoring the Secure Base provides an opportunity to re-engage with it – thoughtfully, collectively and with renewed clarity.
What the Retreat Offers
The retreat is carefully structured to balance learning, reflection and connection, while allowing space for rest and integration.
You can expect:
- Attachment-informed teaching and reflective input
- Time to pause and think about your work in a supportive environment
- Opportunities for shared reflection and collegial connection
- A calm, predictable structure held with flexibility and choice
- Space to integrate learning into your ongoing practice
Participation is invitational throughout. You are welcome to engage in ways that feel right for you.

Connection and Community
Therapeutic work can be professionally lonely. Many practitioners work independently, with limited opportunities to think alongside peers in a relaxed, non-evaluative setting.
This retreat offers time to connect with other therapists and clinicians who understand the realities of the work — creating a sense of professional community that supports reflection, learning and renewed engagement.
Connection is approached thoughtfully and respectfully, with clear boundaries and an emphasis on psychological safety.
An Attachment-Based, Ethically Grounded Approach
The retreat is grounded in attachment theory and informed by contemporary therapeutic practice, including an understanding of:
- the importance of a secure base for exploration and learning
- regulation and co-regulation within professional contexts
- boundaries, predictability and choice
- ethical self-care as a foundation for safe practice
This is not group therapy.
It is a professionally facilitated retreat offering structured reflection, learning and collegial connection.

Who the Retreat Is For
This retreat is for:
-Therapists, counsellors and psychotherapists (qualified or in training)
-Practitioners working in emotionally demanding roles, seeking time for reflection, learning and professional connection
